I have a 1989 chevy pick up and the drivers side door will not latch.
Astro van door latch stuck.
More force is needed to turn the knob and unstick the latch.
The handle or knob must be jiggled to unstick the latch.
Do you know how to remove the door panel.
I m assuming your van is the passenger version with the full garnish molding around the perimeter of the doors.
Usually caused by a broken cable housing preventing you from triggering the latch.
If that s the case the molding is held on by both screws and push in retainer clips.
The door has sagged and i replaced the hinge pins and bushings.
The door latch is not extended before rotating the knob.
Once the door is open try to actuate the door latch with the handle.
Video shows the removal process for repair.
Tighten the screws that retain the panel to the door to 2 n m 18 lb in.
Ensure that the weatherstrip fits into the corner and matches the corner of the radius of the body flange.
Get a flat blade screw driver here and you wont get greasy https amzn to 2zsjebm this confused me as a kid 10 or so years old when the truck was bought i.
The truck in the video is a ford supercab with rear suicide door.

At the area of the latch you may be able to pull the molding out enough to access behind it.
Then pull on the lever as if you were going to open the door while putting pressure on the screwdriver to pop the latch open.

Ask your own chevy question.

Rear door handle broke on the little arm thing.
The hatch button does not work and neither does the key.
Some people call this cab style.
