Stacking bestå cabinets an alternative sturdier method.
Attaching ikea cabinets to each other.
I have some 1 1 4 deck screws on hand.
Cabinets 24 inches or taller always get three screws connecting the face frames.
To attach them you use the double sided pads and metal clips provided in the besta package.
My cabinets came pre assembled and i know to screw the units together before attaching them to my kitchen walls.
I put a minimum of two screws in each one about 1 5 inches from the top and bottom of the face frame opening.
When attaching them to each other though should i be using construction adhesive as well or just screws.
And are there any particular screws i should be using.
You attach that strip to the back of the cabinet then drill from inside the cabinet through the cabinet back filler strip and slightly into the cover panel.
What about spacing of the screws or does that matter.
I then drill the screw pilot holes.
It s stupid and it s pointless and anyone with common sense knows to distribute the nails throughout so that the back of the cabinet is attached evenly.
If you have limited wall space you could instead build the besta cabinets vertically.
I ll see if i can dig up some photos of that part of the process but any ikea kitchen specialist should be able to explain it and point you to the right parts.
They were 2 brackets for hooking them together at the back and a strip of double sided tape for the front pix.
Attaching besta cabinets vertically.
But i didn t like the attachment kit that came with the cabinets.
I wanted to stack 4 bestå cabinets on top of each other and attach them together to make them very stable.
I use two clamps to squeeze the cabinet frames together.
